Fatal Witness by Patricia Bradley—Book Review

Back Cover Copy

As a child, artist and potter Dani Bennett witnessed the brutal murder of her parents. With no memory of the incident or her true identity, she was forced to take on a new name and a new life, hidden away in Montana for the past 25 years.

Mae Richmond has spent the same stretch of time searching for her granddaughter, who went missing the night her daughter and son-in-law were murdered. Convinced the woman she saw in a pottery magazine feature is the woman she’s been searching for, she enlists the help of K-9 officer Mark Lassiter of Pearl Springs, Tennessee, who tracks Dani down.

Skeptical but curious, Dani sets out on a journey to uncover the secrets of her past and reclaim her true identity. But someone close to her is determined to keep the truth of what happened all those years ago hidden.

My Review

This story will keep you reading until late into the night. I loved Dani’s character. She was relatable and easy to love. Every chapter left me wanting to keep reading, who was after Dani and her family? Will Dani be able to remember the man she saw that dreadful night? Will she eventually regain all her memories that had been buried for so long? So good. Patricia Bradley is quickly becoming a new favorite author for me! I highly recommend this one!

Back Cover Copy

A brand new heart-stopping series from a USA Today bestselling author

No sooner has Alexis Stone been sworn in as the interim sheriff for Russell County, Tennessee, when a serial killer dubbed the Queen’s Gambit Killer strikes again–this time in her hometown. Pearl Springs is just supposed to be a temporary stop along the way to Alex’s real dream: becoming the first female police chief of Chattanooga. But the killer’s calling card–a white pawn and a note with a chess move printed on it–cannot be ignored.

Pearl Springs chief of police Nathan Landry can’t believe that his high school sweetheart Alexis (he refuses to call her Alex) is back in town, and he can’t help wanting to protect the woman he never stopped loving. But as the danger mounts and the killer closes in, can Nathan come through on the promises he makes to himself to bring a killer to justice before it’s too late.

My Review

Full of twists and turns, this book will keep you guessing all the way until the end. Alexis and Nathan are both characters that you’ll love. I love the way you see Alex grow in many different areas of her life. I loved seeing her learn to pray more and depend more on God than she was to begin with. I was rooting for her to give Nathan a second chance at love. This story was full of suspense from the get-go, and I really couldn’t guess who the serial killer they were after was. I kept wondering to myself, could it be this one, or that one? What is going to happen next? All the way until the end. The short chapters kept me saying, just one more, just one more, as I was reading into the night. Excellent book, and I highly recommend it!
