Hope Unashamed (When It’s Time Book 2) by Nadine Keels–Book Review

Hope UnashamedArthur was a bookworm, good at school, and had his life all planned out. He had no room or time for romance. However, from the first time he laid eyes on Lorraine, that changed. He suddenly wanted to get to know this girl better. He soon started making time to go out with this girl, to pursue her. However, as the years fly by, and life happens, he realizes his pursuit of this woman he has grown to love is not going to end the way he’d like. Will Arthur learn to love again? Or will he swear off love forever?

In the sequel to Love Unfeigned, this book starts in the middle of the storyline of the last book, but from the perspective of Arthur Simmons. I thought it was such a cool way to go into the book to find out more about the story we read in book 1 from a different perspective. As with the first book, I was captivated by the storyline and characters. I loved the quirks of Arthur’s character. Because of his chivalrous ways, I couldn’t help but think of King Arthur when he would give his handkerchief to a lady to use, or hold a door open for a lady, etc.

Love Unfeigned (When It’s Time Book 1) by Nadine Keels–Book Review

Lorraine and Isaiah were friends from elementary school, but as they grow older, their friendship starts to become something more. However, just as their relationship starts to bud, Isaiah’s family starts to fall apart and causes him to pull back. Years pass, but can their love be rekindled, even after all they’ve been through? Or will it be lost forever?

This series was amazing. It’s perfect for teens and young adults. Loved the storyline, and felt like I could relate to the characters. I felt like a lot of young people can relate to Lorraine and Isaiah as they navigate the dating world. So many books for young people today show the your typical knight in shining armor, and depicts love as all hearts and flowers with no flaws. I love how in this book, the characters have flaws and you can see the real life struggles and how each character deals with their struggles. Because we all know that falling in love, while it is amazing, is hard work, and there are real struggles that we all have to deal with, whether it’s an unexpected family issue, an illness, a trauma, etc. It’s something we have to work through in our relationships. I definitely recommend this whole series!

World of the Innocent by Nadine Keels–Book Review

Book Blurb:

“Are you ready to love this young man?”
Jhoi: she’s poetic. She’s guarded. And she couldn’t imagine having much to do with a guy like Marcas. Sure, Marcas is a brilliant fellow artist, admired by plenty of fans. But he’s so remarkably…strange.
Still, Marcas touches Jhoi’s soul. And through the counsel of a shrewd old neighbor, Jhoi will discover a link between intimate friendship and becoming a steward of an era.
A tale of love, enduring belief, and the meaning of innocence—based on a true story.

My Review

world of innocentJhoi has never been in love, and certainly couldn’t imagine falling in love with Marcus. He was just a friend. He didn’t care for her that way, did he? Follow Jhoi on this journey as she finds out what it’s like to find true love.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was well written, and I believe is perfect for young adults and teens alike. Too many people today don’t really know what love is or what it looks like. In my opinion, Keels perfectly captures what it looks like to find true love. A love with substance, not purely physical, a love that has a real connection. Love isn’t always like you see it on TV or in the latest movie, there’s more to it than meets the eye. This book was clean and the characters were well developed; they were very relatable. I loved the innocence of Jhoi, and how she strove to please the Lord in her relationship. Overall it’s a great short read, perfect for young adults! Go grab your copy today!

Yella’s Prayers by Nadine Keels–Book Review

My Review:

Bless Heggins is a teen who has a passion for God and her music, but she doesn’t share her music with anyone. She knows that God is leading her to help her sister’s best friends T’meal and Lamall, but she doesn’t know exactly what He wants her to do. While listening to God’s leading and fervently praying for these boys, she finds herself drawn more and more to T’meal, but has he started to feel the same way, or is it just in her head?

I really enjoyed this book! The characters were very well developed, and the faith of the main character Bless is very evident. I love that she has a very personal walk with God, and is very sensitive to His call. This is not something you find in a teenager everyday, especially in this day and age. I feel like this book is perfect for young adults! I feel like it would be an encouragement to them to stand up for their faith and have that close relationship with God, no matter what others may say. I highly recommend it!

Book Blurb:

She awoke with a gasp, sitting up. “God? Was that You?”

A pivotal year awaits Bless, a young woman who hides her passion: her music. She’s not exactly friends with T’meal, a talented athlete who won’t explain why he’s passed up the chance of a lifetime. Nor is Bless too close to Lamall, a boisterous playboy with a broken private life that’s spiraling out of control.

But Bless knows she’s meant to help these two young men. She can’t deny the Voice that told her so.

A coming of age story of compassion, the awakening of love, and knowing when it’s time to step out of the shadows and shine.
