Invitation-Harbingers Series Cycle 1–Book Review

Bill Myers, Frank Peretti, Angela Hunt, and Alton Gansky come together to bring you a book like none other. Each author writes from the perspective of a different character through an overarching story of suspense and supernatural circumstances. These four character keep being brought together for some special mission, but they don’t quite know what that mission is strange, unexplainable things keep happening to them. First, there is a strange mystery at a school for gifted students. Then, a house that seems to appear and disappear whenever it wants, animals that just drop dead with no eyes, and finally a strange little girl who seems to be from a completely different planet. What will happen to them? Will they solve the strange¬† mysteries that unfold?

This book was a little different than what I’m used to reading. That being said, I’ve never read a book that was written like this, and I love the idea. When I first started reading, I was a bit confused, because although it is Christian fiction, the very first¬†section seems to dwell on psychic type things and “forces” that to me seemed demonic. (I didn’t get the idea that the author condoned any of that behavior it was just something the characters were fighting.) I kept reading because I wanted to see what happened, and I was pleased to see that throughout the rest of the book it started making more sense as to why that part was necessary. It seems as though something sinister is at work, and these four characters were brought together by God (whether or not they believe in Him or not) to help fight whatever that may be and save people from the effects of each supernatural force. Overall, while it was strange and a bit out of my element, I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and recommend it if you’re into supernatural suspense. I am looking forward to reading the next installment to see what happens next (coming August 2017 – preorder here).

**I received this book free from the publisher (Bethany House) for review. I was not required to write a positive review, and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
