This beautifully illustrated children’s book features an adorable polar bear, the Christmas bear, and his friends as they play in the snow on Christmas Day. It’s perfect for small children learning how to count. Every time you turn the page, there’s a new number of friends joining in the games, or some aspect of Christmas like candy canes or stockings. I love this book and can’t wait to give it to my girls for Christmas! It’s cute; it has beautiful pictures that children will love! It teaches counting, it shows friends having fun, and best of all it fun to read! I highly recommend this book for your kids! It would be a perfect Christmas gift for that special kid in your life. Our God has many names that show different aspects of His character. As we learn about each name we learn to trust Him more, and ultimately love Him more and become closer to Him. As an adult I love learning about the names of God.

 

I love the idea of teaching the names of God to my children. Before I got this devotional I received a free printable in my email that had some of the names of God, the meanings and verses to learn along with them, and started that with my children. They enjoyed that so much I decided to get the devotional to go along with it. I love the way this devotional is on the level of my children, and it helps them understand it. It starts out with a Bible verse, then has a little devotional about each name and the application of it. Then it ends with a little prayer to emphasize the application and has a set of discussion questions sometimes with a little extra study in another Bible passage. My kids love it too! They have learned a lot through this particular devotional. Definitely a great devotional for your kids!

Thank you God for Grandma by Amy Parker–Book Review

Grandmas are special! This book is perfect for kids of all ages especially with the rhyming format throughout the book. It discusses all the different aspects of Grandmas and what makes them great!

I really loved this book and so did my kids. I also love that in the beginning it gives different names that kids may call their Grandma like Mimi or Gigi. I also loved the illustrations, they were very cute with a little bear family. It kept both my 5-year-old and my 2-year-old’s attention.

The Rainbow Egg by Linda K. Hendricks, M.D. –Book Review

Hope the chicken lives in the woods, but when she lays an egg and has no nest for it, she realizes she must find a nest for her egg. Her search leads her to the Rainbows who want an egg desperately, but cannot lay an egg no matter how they try. Follow Hope’s journey and see what happens when her egg hatches.

I think this was a beautiful story with great illustrations for kids. It would be the perfect story for a child who had been adopted. It shows the love that the mom had for the baby, but that she knew it would be better for the baby if it grew up with the other family who had a nest (home) and had desperately wanted a baby, but couldn’t have one. It’s a unique story, I’ve never read a book like this for children.

Song of the Stars by Sally Lloyd-Jones–Book Review

The entire creation is abuzz with the news that the Creator is here. The animals are shouting it, the grass, the insects, the rocks, and everything else is shouting with excitement that their Creator is here.

Are you looking for a book that tells the Christmas story for little ones from a different perspective? Then look no further, this is the book you’ve been waiting for. Beautifully written and illustrated, this book tells the story of Christ’s birth from the perspective of all of Creation, not just from our perspective as humans. I’m sure the donkey and the sheep were just as excited about Jesus birth as Mary and Joseph were. I’m sure they probably knew that Jesus was their Creator. Think about it, it’s exciting when a baby is born now, can you imagine the excitement when the Messiah, the Savior of the world, was born? I absolutely love this book, and am adding it to my collection of Christmas books for my children!

Goodnight Manger by Lauri Sassi–Book Review

The most important part of Christmas is not toys or Santa Clause, but the birth of our Savior. This book takes Christmas story and brings it to life in a new way. It brings out things you might not think of such as all the noises of the stable keeping the little baby Jesus awake at night.

I really enjoyed this book. I know my children will love it when I read it to them at Christmas time. The illustrations were absolutely beautiful. The one thing I didn’t like about it was how it included the wise men at the stable with Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus, when they didn’t come until Jesus was a little older and they were living in a house in Bethlehem (Matthew 2:11). Overall, it’s a great book for your kids that tells the most important story of all!

God has big plans for each of us. A specific plan for each and every person. Every child should know that God has given him or her special talents to fulfill God’s special plan for them.

This book was beautifully illustrated and written in a rhyming fashion. It was wonderfully written and in a way children can really know that God made them special with a special plan in mind for them. It takes a familiar Bible verse and puts it into a story that children will want to hear again and again.

Little Cub loves to play as all children do, but when Mama comes to get her because it’s time for bed, she doesn’t want to go. Mama Bear teaches Little Cub about how God created a time for us to rest. Little Cub soon realizes the importance of sleep.

All children want to play and never go to bed, but we mothers know that God created us to have a time of rest. We need our sleep in order to function properly, and eventually our little ones understand that too. I love this book, and the artwork is exquisite! Bergren has several other books in this series, and I have loved each of the books I have read so far. My children also really enjoyed this book.

Ever wonder about the traditions we have at Christmas? Have you’re kids ever asked, and you just didn’t have an answer for them? This book explains how the tradition of the Christmas stocking came to be.

Personally, I love to read about where certain traditions came from. I love it even more when it is explained from a Christian perspective, especially Christmas traditions since it is the celebration of our Savior’s birth first and foremost. This book is a very simple book for kids of all ages to enjoy. This is a book I plan on reading to my children this Christmas and many Christmases to come.

The Legend of the Christmas Cookie by Dandi Daley Mackall–Book Review

Have you ever wondered who started the tradition of making Christmas cookies? Why do we make cookies for the holidays? This is a beautiful story that explains how the tradition started. It focuses on the true meaning of Christmas, Christ’s birth. It even includes the traditional recipe for Christmas cookies.

I loved this story. It is beautifully written and illustrated. I can’t wait to read it to my children at Christmastime. I am starting the new tradition of reading a new book every day of December up until Christmas. I plan on putting this on our reading list and then making the cookies from the recipe included that day. I highly recommend getting this book to read to your children this Christmas season.
