Lake Season

A lost letter, a new love, and old secrets beckon this summer at the Bluebell Inn.

When their parents die in a tragic accident, Molly Bennett and her siblings pull together to fulfill their parents’ dream: turning their historic Bluebell, North Carolina home back into an inn. The situation would just be temporary—three years at the most—then they would sell the inn and Molly could get back to chasing her own dreams.

Adam Bradford (aka bestselling author Nathanial Grey) is a reclusive novelist with a bad case of writer’s block. Desperate for inspiration as his deadline approaches, he travels to the setting of his next book, a North Carolina lake town. There he immediately meets his muse, a young innkeeper who fancies herself in love with his alter ego.

Molly and Adam strike up an instant friendship. When Molly finds a long-lost letter in the walls of her inn she embarks on a mission with Adam to find the star-crossed lovers and bring them the closure they deserve. But Adam has secrets of his own. Past and present collide as truths are revealed, and Molly and Adam will have to decide if love is worth trusting.

My Review

Denise Hunter knocks another one out of the park with this book! I absolutely loved every minute of this book. I loved the characters. Molly and Adam were completely relatable, down-to-earth characters who were easy to love. It did not take long for me to become completely engrossed in the story. I wanted to see if they accomplished their missed to bring closure to the couple in the letter. I loved the surprises sprinkled in. If you love romance, you are not going to want to miss this book! Lake Season has definitely taken the spot as my new favorite Denise Hunter novel. I cannot wait to read the rest of this new series!

Beauty In Hiding

Book 2 in the Beauty in Flight series:

Harper’s second chance at life will become a second stint in prison if anyone connects those two dead men to her.

Nutfield, New Hampshire, is as good a place as any to hide from the murderer Harper left behind in Maryland. All she has to do is lie low and make enough money to keep herself and Red alive until she can figure out who her enemies are.

Jack Rossi isn’t sure what to make of his beautiful new tenant and her confused grandfather. Something’s not right, but the love he sees between them and the care she takes of the old man convinces Jack they’re trustworthy. As drawn as he is to Harper, she’s his tenant, so she’s off limits.

Derrick, Harper’s ex-boyfriend and Red’s grandson, needs to find his grandfather and get his hands on the old man’s money before Derrick ends up with a bullet in the skull. And when he gets his hands on Harper, she’ll be sorry for what she’s put him through.

Harper and Jack grow closer, but so do her enemies. If Harper can’t trust Jack with the truth, she may lose more than just this glimpse of true love. She may lose her freedom—or her life.

 My Review

This entire series is amazing! (This is book 2, and you’re going to want to read these in order) I have been completely captivated and it’s been really hard for me to put the book down. In this book, as Harper moves to this new town and tries to keep Red safe, you can see her grow spiritually, she seems to trust God more and in turn starts trusting others a little more. Will she be able to keep Red safe from Derrick? Will she be wrongfully accused for what happens in Maryland because of her past? And if she tells Jack the truth will he believe her? The suspense and twists and turns will keep you guessing what will happen next. So, if you love a good suspenseful book, you’re going to want to read this series! Beware, you won’t be able to put it down!

About the Author

Robin PatchenAside from her family and her Savior, Robin Patchen has two loves—writing and traveling. If she could combine them, she’d spend a lot of time sitting in front of her laptop at sidewalk cafes and ski lodges and beachside burger joints. She’d visit every place in the entire world—twice, if possible—and craft stories and tell people about her Savior. Alas, time is too short and money is too scarce for Robin to traipse all over the globe, even if her husband and kids wanted to go with her. So she stays in Oklahoma, shares the Good News when she can, and writes to illustrate the unending grace of God through the power and magic of story.

More from Robin

I was raised in a Christian home. Our parents took my sister, my brother, and me to church every Sunday. They taught us right from wrong, but eventually, kids have to make their own choices. In my case, I chose wrong for a long time.

Don’t misunderstand: I was always a pretty nice person. I wasn’t a thief, and I didn’t kill anybody, but I made a lot of bad decisions. Sinful decisions. I discovered that one bad choice often led to the next and the next until I was trapped in a life of my own making with no idea how to get out.

But God… two of my favorite words in the English language.

God had a different plan, and He pulled me out of the muck and changed my life. He showed me that I was not the person I’d been acting like. He showed me who I was, and He taught me to walk in the truth of my identity.

Harper Cloud isn’t me, not at all. First of all, she tall and blond and drop-dead gorgeous. More than that, her choices are nothing like mine were. But she’s in the same boat I was. Thanks to a series of bad decisions, Harper was in a hole, and she didn’t know how to get herself out of it. She used drugs to quiet the condemning voices and told herself lies to make herself feel better. Someday, she told herself, she’d get her life together enough to go home to her parents. Because she couldn’t go when she was a mess. She couldn’t go until she’d done something they could be proud of.

Thanks to a bad choice in boyfriend, Harper not only didn’t go home, she ended up in prison.

Harper’s story begins two years after she’s released. It’s the story of a woman desperate to be free of her past, clinging to hope when there’s every reason to despair, and desperate to believe what she’s been told about this Savior, Jesus Christ.

Harper will learn about love and redemption and salvation in the course of the three books that make up the Beauty in Flight series. That is, if she can survive the danger that seems to follow her wherever she goes.

My Review

Update: I just want to update, and let you all know, all the cursing was taken out of the final copy, so I edited my review to reflect that.

I really enjoyed the storyline of this book. It kept me enthralled as I went from chapter to chapter wanting to know what happens next. I loved seeing the story unfold from both sides. Seeing the struggles of not only a military wife at home alone, but also of the military man away from his wife trying to juggle focusing on the mission and being a good husband to his wife. It also shows Meg’s struggle in her faith in God. Is He real? Does He still care? Why does she feel abandoned by God? And it shows her journey back to her faith. Overall I liked the book. The characters were also very easy to relate to, they were well developed and each had their own flaws. I was very thankful to be able to be a part of this book launch blog tour, and I highly recommend this book!

Lydia by Diane Wallis Taylor–Blog Tour

Lydia-FB-cover-copy

About the Book:

Name of book: LydiaLydia-Cover-194x300
Author: Diana Wallis Taylor
Genre: Biblical Fiction
Release Date: October 3, 2017

Smart, strong, and a follower of the Jewish God, Lydia has nonetheless quietly conformed to the expectations of the wealthy Roman society into which she was born. Her father marries her off at age fifteen to a much older man whom she dislikes. Despite an unpleasant wedding and a marriage that doesn’t improve with age, Lydia remains a dutiful and faithful wife. When her husband is killed, years later, Lydia vows to remain single and returns to her father’s house in Thyatira with her twelve-year-old daughter.

There, a new life begins to emerge as she is trained in the family dye business. Lydia displays an aptitude for trade in the male-dominated world of first century commerce. Her brother, who had chosen service in the Roman army rather than work in his father’s business, is at odds with his sister. Jealous of her quiet success as she learns the dye business, he’s especially befuddled by what he considers to be Lydia’s obsession with the Jewish religion. When their father dies, Cassius inherits the family’s home; Lydia inherits the business, and unbeknownst to her brother, a small villa in the city of Philippi.

Lydia flees with her mother and daughter to Philippi where she sets up shop. At the mercy of a patriarchal society, Lydia needs a man to serve as the public face for her business. She discovers the right person in the handsome face of Greek man she’d hired — an employee with whom she develops a close friendship. The plot thickens as Lydia meets a strange man named Paul the apostle who is stirring up crowds in town. When Lydia’s brother shows up in Philippi, determined to force her to sell the business, he discovers plenty of fuel to accomplish his goals.

My Review:

While this is a fictional story, it is based on the real woman in the Bible, Lydia, seller of purple. I have heard about Lydia when she is mentioned in the Bible, but we don’t know much more about her. I never thought about the facet of her being a business woman, in that day that was rare, and probably looked down on. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, and it helped me have a greater appreciation for the early church. I felt like the story came to life, and I felt like I was there with Lydia seeing the world she lived in through her eyes. Things weren’t easy for Lydia, and the Lord really provided for and guided her. It is a story of a woman who learns to trust the Lord more fully, and for that the Lord richly blessed her and her household. I learned a lot from this inspiring book. I highly recommend it!

Murder for the Time Being by Joanie Bruce–Blog Tour

_1murderMy Review

Lexi Wynn finds herself in trouble after her and her mother were hostages in a bank robbery. Now someone is after her and she doesn’t know why. When she first meets Drew, it’s because he ran into her truck in the drive-through, but after he saves her from a would-be kidnapper, she suddenly finds herself attracted to this man. After an attempt on her mother’s life, she decides to use her computer skills to try to help the police. Can she put her feelings for Drew aside to fully focus on finding the robbers and figure out if this has anything to do with her past? Or will she find herself in more trouble?

I was sucked into this story from the very beginning. The chapters are pretty short and concise, so it makes it very hard to stop reading. I could not put it down. I’d tell myself one more chapter and an hour later, I’m still reading. Very suspenseful, which is something I love in a good book. Also, I very much appreciated, how when the characters were scared or in danger, they looked to God whether saying a quick prayer, or encouraging one another to trust God. The characters were well developed with their own little quirks or secrets. Overall, an amazing read, and I highly recommend it! Since this is Book 1 in the Murders in Madison series, I’m looking forward to reading more in this series to see what happens next!

Book: Murder for the Time Being

Author: Joanie Bruce

Genre: Christian Suspense/Romance

Release Date: November 29, 2016

“You’ll pay for this. I’ll get you both.”

Computer expert Lexi Wynn is frightened. Someone is after her, but she doesn’t know why. Is it because of her past or because she was thrust into a deadly bank robbery and might identify the ones responsible? Escaping a failed kidnapping attempt and not sure who to trust, she hopes her specialized skills with computers might flush out the name of the killer. When a tall, dark, and handsome stranger rams into her truck with the hearse he’s driving and puts his life in danger to save hers, can she ignore the attraction she feels for him to concentrate on the killers? Or is God the only one who can save her now?

Drew Sheffield is irritated when a cute lady stops abruptly in front of him and he plows into the back of her pickup. After their initial confrontation, flashbacks of honeysuckle and sassy green eyes linger in his thoughts. When Lexi is threatened, he steps in to help the feisty young woman, in spite of agonizing over a past relationship.

Can Lexi and Drew forget the tragedies of the past and embrace the feelings between them or will ghostly memories snub out the promise of a future together?

About the Author

ESP_9231 (2)

Joanie has a strong passion for reading, and her love for books with nail-biting suspense, inspires her to write contemporary suspense books. Thankful that God has given her the ability to write from her home in the country, she strives to use that opportunity to honor Him in all of her writing. Joanie and her husband, Ben, live in a country home near Madison, Georgia, right in the middle of a pasture full of beef cows. There they raised and homeschooled their three children. She enjoys cooking, taking long walks, painting oil portraits, and caring for their home in the country.

Guest Post from Joanie Bruce

Have you ever been devastated by a certain event in your life, and later it turned out to the best thing that ever happened to you? That’s what happened to Lexi Wyn in this book, “Murder for the Time Being.” Something unthinkable happened to her family, but in the end, it changes Lexi’s life forever and introduces her to the love of her life.

In this story, both Lexi and Drew have things in their past that discourage them from seeking a lasting relationship. However, God has a plan for them both, and through His Divine engineering, they are thrown together in circumstances that nurture a growing appreciation and affection for each other.

This book was fun to write because I anchored the story in my sweet little town of Madison, Georgia. I wasn’t raised in Madison, but I’ve called it home for much longer than any other place I’ve ever lived. While growing up in the big city of Memphis, Tennessee, I had definite plans for my future. All I ever wanted was to “marry a country boy and live in the country.” The Lord heard the desires of my heart and gave me what I wanted … a country boy, born and raised here in Morgan County on a dairy farm.

After we married, I adopted Madison as my home, and I love it so much that I wanted to feature some of the fun spots in Madison as the backdrops for the scenes in my books. I hope when you read through the pages of my book, you will get an idea of what a sweet little town Madison is and enjoy reading about Lexi and Drew and how they let God guide them in discovering that murder CAN be “for the Time Being.”
