Lies Women Believe by Nancy Leigh DeMoss Wolgemuth–Book Review

lies2

“Many women live under a cloud of personal guilt and condemnation,” says Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth. “Many are in bondage to their past. Others are gripped by fear of rejection and a longing for approval. Still others are emotional prisoners.”

Everyone encounters lies throughout their lives. The Devil is the Father of lies, and will do anything he can to get you to believe lies. Starting in the Garden of Eden, Satan attacked the first woman, Eve, with a lie. In this updated version of Lies Women Believe, Nancy Leigh Wolgemuth covers several lies that women today are faced with and corresponding truths that will help them overcome these lies. She covers topics suchas, lies about God,  themselves, priorities, children, emotions, circumstances, and more. The only thing that can conquer these lies is the Truth, the Truth of God’s Word.

The Lies Women Believe Study Guide is a corresponding study guide that helps you dig deeper into the book, and search the Scripture to help you recognize and overcome the lies the Devil will throw at you. (And he will come at you with lies, no Christian is exempt!) Each chapter in the guide is divided into three sections: In a Nutshell (overview), Exploring the Truth, and Walking Together in the Truth (for group study).

I have absolutely loved this book and study guide! I highly recommend it to every Christian woman! One of the things I found most interesting, was in the beginning of each chapter, she starts with a short snippet of something that looks like Eve’s journal. What she may have thought at different stages of her life, or things she may have gone through that correlates to the Lies that will be covered in that chapter. I learned so much through each chapter, and there were some lies I know I myself have believed at one time or another.

The Study Guide was so helpful. While you can use it for group studies, I did it as an individual study and it worked perfectly! I love how in this guide it doesn’t just ask you questions about what’s in the book, it makes you dig deeper in God’s Word giving you Scripture after Scripture to look up and further study for yourself. I have done other studies where they’ll ask you according to page #….what did you learn about this? It was so refreshing to do a study that takes you straight to the ultimate source of Truth, God’s Word.

Overall, I can’t say enough how much I loved this entire book/study! I feel more equipped as a Woman of God to recognize the Devils lies, and overcome them with the Truth of God’s Word. I truly have learned a lot from everything I’ve ever read that Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth has written. I pray that you will learn just as much from this study as I did!

Amazing Bible Studies and Study Tools

Do you need a new devotional or Bible Study? How about a new journal? Or maybe just some highlighters, pens or inspirational mugs? Well, the Daily Grace Co. has you mug1covered. They have everything for your Bible Study needs as well as beautiful inspirational prints and mugs. I have fallen in love with the various Bible Studies and devotionals. I want them all! I have been so encouraged and learned so much through the studies I’ve done so far, and I know you will be too!

The Daily Grace Co. was founded by Kristin Schmucker (learn more about Kristin here) I went to the same college as Kristin, and I learned about her company through one of our mom’s groups on Facebook. I love supporting other moms in their businesses, and I hstory of Redemptionighly encourage you to check out the shop! Their company motto is “Equipping Women in the Word,” and they do just that! Each devotional is beautifully written and has beautiful artwork! Currently I’m reading through the Bible and using their “Story of Redemption Vol. 1” Bible Study. I love it because for me, it helps if I have a small devotional to help me get wp-1486223138966.jpgthe most from what I’m reading in the Bible. Personally, these have quickly become my favorite devotionals, and I plan on getting more as soon as I’m through the one I’m working on now! I’ve also done the “Daughters of Grace” devotional. You can learn something beneficial from each woman in that devotional. It shows that they were women just like us, and God used them in a special way. Women suchas Sarah, Hagar, Leah, Rachel, just to name a few.

Check out all the company has to offer in their shop: https://www.thedailygraceco.com?rfsn=624388.86b80, and don’t forget to add yourself to their email list so you can get emails about sales and discounts! You can follow them on Facebook here.

Do you want a new way to study your Bible? Check this out!!

I recently finished a Bible study that was different than any other I’ve ever done, and I wanted to share it with you! I received a free download of Journal and Doodle Through the Bible–Ephesians when I signed up for the newsletter over at Stone Soup for Five. She has several other Bible studies like this one available to buy. They are very affordable, and wonderful ways to dig in deeper to God’s Word. I loved this study because it helped me to get a lot more out of my devotions. It gives you ideas to help you journal your thoughts about the passage you are studying. I am a more hands on person, so keeping a journal of what I’ve been studying in my devotions helps me to concentrate, as well as remember key things I may not otherwise have remembered. Plus, I can go back to my notes later on and review the things I didn’t want to forget. However, normally I just use bullet points or the SOAP method to journal, which while not a bad way to journal, I don’t always get as much that way. When I started thinking outside of the box, and doodling and listing things out from the verses and how they apply to my life, it made me think harder on these truths, that normally I may have read and noted and gone on. In short it gave me more depth to my Bible study.

You can still get a free Bible study when you sign up for her newsletter (I also really enjoy her newsletters!). I highly recommend doing it if you are the least bit curious! It’s awesome, and if you are like me, you’ll be hooked! I plan on trying to doodle my way through my Bible from now on!
