Moments with the Savior Devotional by Ken Gire–Book Review

There are sixty-six devotionals in this book that take you on a journey through the different events and day-to-day life of Jesus Christ. First Gire lays out the Scripture, then he lays out a meditation on that Scripture, and finally he ends each one with a prayer. It is designed to help you develop a more intimate relationship with your Savior.

I had read one of Ken Gire’s books before, and loved it, which is why I wanted to read this one. Gire has a way of describing events in the life of Christ that will make you feel like you are right there with Him and His disciples watching it all unfold. I just love it! I mean you read the Bible, and you may understand it, but there’s still that distance. It’s really wonderful to be able to get into the story and see it through the eyes of thoses involved. My favorite by far was the birth of Christ. You read about the birth of Christ in the Bible and you may think (as a woman), “Man I can’t imagine giving birth in a stable.” Well Gire describes it very well. Mary laboring on a donkey while Joseph is trying to find somewhere for them to stay and for her to give birth. Him trying to figure out what to use as a crib, and bedding. Mary having contractions, and finally giving birth. I won’t spoil it all for you, but it was amazing, it really gave me a brand new perspective. Highly, highly recommend this devotional!
