The Loyal Heart by Shelley Shepherd Gray–book review

After making a promise to his fellow comrade during the war, Robert Truax  is sent on a mission to check on Phillip Markham’s widow, Miranda. He didn’t expect to find her in the state she’s in with her husband’s name being dragged through the mud. He quickly decides he is going to fix Miranda’s troubles and get to the bottom of who started thpse nasty rumors as well as who is sending her threatening letters. Will he let his heart get the best of him? Will he be able to get to the bottom of this before she loses everything?

Such a great story! It shows the loyalty of Civil War soldiers who made a promise to look after each other and their fallen comrade’s wife after the war. These men took their promised seriously which meant the world to Miranda Markham. The characters were well developed and they had their own flaws. It kept me guessing the whole way through as to who was behind it all. There were a few curves thrown in as well. I highly recommend this book!
