The Robertsons have become a household name in many homes in America because of their TV reality show Duck Dynasty. They are not ashamed of their faith in Jesus Christ, and I love that! This particular book focuses on Jase and Missy’s daughter Mia, who was born with a cleft lip and palate. Missy tells the story of their journey with Mia so far. The journey has included several surgeries, and she explains the impact those surgeries have had on them as a family as well as on Mia herself. Through it all, Missy gives God the glory and recognizes that through these challenging circumstances God is using them and their precious daughter to help other families who may be going through similar situations.
I have read a few of the Robertsons’ other books they have published, and this is just as good as the others! I love that they are so real in their books as well as in their lives. They may be big TV reality stars now, but they are Christians, and of that they are not ashamed. I love how Missy points out how God had a purpose for the challenges they’ve been through, and how He chose them to be Mia’s parents. I love how she recognizes that because of Mia’s cleft they have come into contact with many families that they can be an encouragement and witness to that they may never have met otherwise. I would recommend this book, and if you know someone who is going through this, or is going to have a baby knowing that they will have this, maybe consider getting this book for them as a source of encouragement.
