This chapter talks about our responsibility as wives to submit to our husband’s authority no matter what may try to come in our way. God commands us as wives to submit to our husbands and that the husband is the head of the wife.
“Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it I fit in the Lord.” – Colossians 3:18 (KJV)
“But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.” – I Corinthians 11:3 (KJV)
God doesn’t say submit if you feel like it, or submit only when your husband is in a good mood. I’ll admit sometimes it can be hard to submit, it’s human nature to not want to submit to authority, whether that be our husband or some other form of authority. It can be especially hard for women who have husbands that don’t seem to care for them or are constantly fighting with them, or maybe you have a husband who is unsaved and treats you badly. God still expects us to submit despite our circumstances. Several times in the book Mrs. Pearl mentions that sometimes you don’t have to say anything, but you could win your unsaved husband through your deeds, which means by the way you act by submitting and being a good help meet in general you are showing your husband Christ in your actions. So while you may not feel like your husband deserves a good help meet that submits, remember God commands it and being that good help meet may just turn your marriage around.
